History
Our Story
In 2002 Riverside Studios was looking for a permanent tenant for its largest studio space. TFI Friday had come to an end and Arts Council England asked Riverside Studios to find commercial income from Studio1. Co-incidentally The Big Breakfast also came to an end at this time and a new company was formed to bring the resources from Bow Locks to Riverside TV Studios in Hammersmith.
After a refurbishment of the studio bookings quickly followed with God Almighty being the first RTVS recording in Studio1. This was followed by SMTV:Gold and CD:UK.
The facilities continued to be upgraded with tapeless workflows, high definition and digital sound being introduced. By the time of the redevelopment of Riverside Studios RTVS had equipped both production galleries and was operating both St1 and St2 full time.
RTVS was instrumental in the design and fitout of the redeveloped studio site and Studio1 reopened in 2019 with Channel4’s election coverage. Since then RTVS has been home to many much loved programmes including Top Of The Pops, Have I Got News For You and The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
Both gallery suites at Riverside are UHD capable and can be connected to any space in the building. Studio2 has hosted Eggheads, Strictly: It Takes Two and Channel4’s 2024 Election Coverage, whilst Studio3 launched with Hello America!.
